Who is BRiiiMM?

Self- Portrait of the Artist BRiiiMM levitating in a lotus position as she drinks a gold nectar from a lotus flower. Her hair statically spreading + designing an aura around her. As a Taino artist, iii am deeply inspired by the natural world, the surreal, + my connection to my ancestral roots in Boriken, (other known as Puerto Rico). Growing up in Philadelphia, iii was surrounded by the many diverse cultures + art forms of my city, which has shaped my movement of personal artistic style. iii draw inspiration from the dream realm + the rituals that go into the creation of life + art.

Through my work in sculpture, painting installation, + fashion, iii incorporate plants, animals, + landscapes by exploration of consciousness, the interconnectedness of all things. iii am particularly interested in the ways in which indigenous cultures honor + give reverence to the natural world. The use of vibrant colors + bold lines in my work reflects the energy + vitality of that natural world.

Dreams + spirituality, also play a significant role in my artistic process. iii believe that dreams are a powerful tool for self-discovery + personal growth. iii often incorporate symbols + motifs from Taino mythology + spiritual practices, as a way to honor my ancestors + cultural heritage. As an indigenous artist, it is my responsibility to use my platform to bring awareness to the importance of preserving + honoring indigenous culture + the environment.

Nostalgia is another important theme in my work that draws inspiration from memories of childhood experiences. My art reflects my longing for the past, while also looking towards the future. iii strive to create pieces that not only speak to the viewer aesthetically, but also emotionally + spiritually. iii hope that my work will inspire others to explore their own cultural roots + to appreciate the surreal beauty of nature. Thanks for taking the time to learn more about my journey as an artist.
